pilates for pregnancy
Pilates for pregnancy classes can help you to relax and maintain good posture as your body shape changes. It can also help to soothe aches and pains associated with pregnancy and help you strengthen the abdominal, pelvic floor and back muscles. Other benefits include:
- Improves body awareness so you become more in tune with your body and baby
- Prepares your body for the added stresses and strains of carrying a baby
- Improves breathing and relaxation skills which will aid in labour
Please note that it is important to check with your midwife or doctor before commencing Pilates for Pregnancy classes and it is inadvisable to do Pilates during the first 14 weeks of pregnancy (if you have never done any Pilates before).
Stop exercising if you feel over exerted. Symptoms include vomiting, dizziness, tightness in the chest, extreme perspiration or shortage of breath. Stop and call your doctor.
Respect your body and exercise gently.
Please note that these classes are 45 minutes long.
Doing pilates prior to and during my pregnancy definitely helped to speed up my recovery after my daughters birth and since returning to Pilates I have felt a rapid improvement in getting my body back. I highly recommend Clare to help with all your Pilates needs.
