COVID-19 has seemingly changed the world overnight. We are taking measures to minimise/prevent the spread of the virus (particularly to those who are most vulnerable), whilst keeping disruption to a minimum, given that the peak of infection from the virus is not expected to be for another 10-14 weeks.  We will, of course, endeavour to keep everyone informed and make necessary amendments as the situation and official advice inevitably changes over the coming weeks.

Like everyone else, we’re concerned about the future… ongoing health risks, schools closing, the economy…

Despite all this, one very powerful core belief is to focus on actions, not outcomes.

We cannot control what happens next. And that gives many of us a feeling of uncertainty which causes stress and anxiety. However, by focusing on small daily actions, you can move forward even in the face of uncertainty. And in turn, that reduces stress and anxiety.

Studio Classes

These will carry on as planned, until further notice.  We expect that most people will continue to attend classes but if you feel that it is best that you do not do so (for example, you are particularly vulnerable/immuno-suppressed), we will understand. A minimum of 24hrs notice is required in order for us to try and fill your space.

Please DO NOT come to classes if you have any symptoms which could be related to the virus (ie. cough, difficulty breathing, high temperature), even if you don’t think you have it.  The official advice is to self-isolate for at least 7 days if you have any of these symptoms.   We would ask that if you have been in contact with anyone known to have the virus or with these symptoms, that you also do not attend any class until you are sure that you do not develop any symptoms.

If I have any symptoms I will of course cancel all classes and refund those who have already paid.

We advise that you wash your hands when you arrive and when you leave class.  Please also feel free to bring your own hand sanitiser to use as you wish (we are struggling to get hold of any to provide for your use!).

If necessary, as the situation progresses, we may look to have ‘virtual’ classes.

Mats and Equipment
These will be wiped down before and after every class.
You are welcome to bring your own mat or towel to use over our equipment as a barrier.
If you would prefer not to use shared equipment please let us know. Please do not use this as an excuse to get out of exercises you don’t like! 😉

All other surfaces, doors, handles etc will be wiped down regularly.

Monday night classes at Mandeville School

These will carry on as planned, until further notice.  Should the school have to close then we may have to suspend classes.

We would advise you to bring your own mat or towel to use.

Additional Information

The good news—so far—is that sweat cannot transmit the virus, and there’s a lower risk of picking up coronavirus at a gym or health club than at a church service, according to David Thomas, MD, MPH, professor of medicine and director of the Division of Infectious Diseases at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine (The New York Times, March 8, 2020).

If you need any further advice about the virus (symptoms, prevention and self-isolation), please visit the NHS website here: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/.

We really appreciate your co-operation and support at what is a very difficult time.

With best wishes,
